Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist was founded in 1999 by Dr. Timothy J. Zimmer, who received his education at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic and is board certified and re-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. During more than 20 years in practice, Dr. Zimmer has achieved a balance many physicians never do by combining excellent care from a clinical perspective with highly personalized care from a patient perspective. Because of this, Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist attracts patients from across the city, the region and the country.
With the support of his exceptional staff, Dr. Zimmer treats a wide range of foot and ankle problems including hammertoes, bunions, fractures, arthritis, and other tendon ailments such as the Achilles. He also performs diabetic foot care and is sought after for complex reconstructive and arthroscopic surgeries.
Dr. Zimmer’s Richmond office is located in the Stony Point Surgery Center, where he sees patients and performs surgery all under one roof.
In Charlottesville, Dr. Zimmer’s office is conveniently located in Peter Jefferson Place. Surgeries and imaging studies are performed at Martha Jefferson Hospital and the Outpatient Care Center, which are also located in Peter Jefferson Place.
