The Practice
Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist, a solo practice specializing in disorders of the foot and ankle, was founded by Dr. Timothy Zimmer in 1999 after 11 years of group practice. Our practice treats a wide range of orthopedic problems including hammertoes, bunions, arthritis, fractures, Achilles and other tendon ailments.
The Richmond office located across from Stony Point Fashion Park is well appointed and modern, offering patients the convenience of X-ray services and an outpatient surgical facility all under one roof. The environment is warm, comfortable and supportive, thanks to our exceptional staff. Because the staff does not include physician assistants or nurse practitioners, all patients are evaluated by Dr. Zimmer.
The new Charlottesville office is conveniently located in Peter Jefferson Place. Surgeries and imaging studies are performed in the Martha Jefferson Hospital Outpatient Care Center and hospital proper. Physical Therapy is prescribed at several convenient locations.
Our Staff
Connie Baybutt, RT®, ARRT
X-ray technologist Connie Baybutt, who was born and educated in Norfolk, transitioned from hospital employment to a large orthopedic practice in 1985. When Dr. Zimmer founded Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist in 1999, she became a founding staff member.
Through the years with Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist, Connie has gathered a tremendous variety of experience. (She wears many hats here in the office.) In addition to her primary focus as an X-ray technologist, she handles many additional functions that keep Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist running smoothly and efficiently
The best part of the job for Connie is the patient interaction. She enjoys making a difference for her patients on a daily basis – something she finds more easily accomplished working in a small practice setting like Commonwealth Orthopedic Specialist.
Connie has one son and lives in Richmond’s West End.
